"Wildflowers Rising" shows native plants from the West Coast in an ancestral floral beadwork painting design. Included are Thimbleberry, Nootka Rose, Garry Oak, Harvest Brodiaea and Small-flowered Alumroot. The painting is created in a distinctive Métis style that includes life stages, balanced mirrored design, and images intended emulate traditional white beaded mouse tracks. The subject is meant to honour native species of the artists' home, and the style is meant to emulate the black velvet and glass beadwork of the artist's ancestors, the Flower Beadwork People.
